Window Treatments

Before We Meet:

When you call to set an appointment, I explain the process and ask questions about current patterns, styles, colors and preferences for each room to be decorated. A $100 non-refundable, non-transferrable consultation fee is required which can be applied toward the designs of 2 rooms; a $50 per room fee applies for each room thereafter. This fee is credited back against each room as long the total for the initial 2 rooms exceeds $500. We then set an appointment at a time convenient for you. I would suggest you review my portfolio on this site prior to our consultation and gather pictures from magazines/ books to help show me what your style preferences are. References can be provided at request and testimonials are available on our website.

At The Consultation:

I bring fabric, trim, shading, shutter, and idea books to our appointment.  During our time together, I’ll help you identify fabrics, trim and styles best suited for your windows and taste.  I then draw style suggestions and leave them behind for your consideration, giving you the chance to show them to friends and family.  And finally, we measure your windows and talk about proper scale and proportion relative to the size of the room.

After We Meet:

Fabric swatches are forwarded for you to view in your home (they should be received within 1-2 weeks directly from the supplier unless the fabric is backordered). Once the fabric is decided upon, I prepare a formalized estimate and forward it for your review within approximately 2-5 business days. To proceed, you send a check for 50% of window treatments estimate after your consultation fee is applied.

The End:

Window treatments are generally fabricated and installed within 4-6 weeks, unless there is a backorder. Doug and/ or I install your treatments and stand shoulder-to-shoulder with you to make any final adjustments. The remaining portion of the estimate is due at installation.

Blinds & Shutters :

There is no charge for a consultation focused solely on blinds or shutters.  The benefit of purchasing blinds from DDN is that we bring all the same books you’d see at a retail store to your home and have hand samples for you to touch and feel.  As well, related to pricing, we take the attitude that blinds are our means to start a long term relationship, so, we are priced very competitively.  We are a Hunter Douglas (www.hunterdouglas.com) dealer, but we also carry other lines for the more price conscious consumer. DDN requires a 75% downpayment for blinds & shutters and the remaining 25% balance at installation.  Your blinds are generally installed within 2-4 weeks from the time an order it placed.

Color Palette:

It’s very common that I meet with homeowners that haven’t yet selected a paint color for their walls. As a result, I carry Benjamin Moore and Sherwin Williams paint wheels with me just for this purpose. Believe me, if I’m doing window treatments for those rooms I’ll gladly suggest a color at no charge to insure you love the work I’ve done as much as possible. A great backdrop to your furniture and new treatments is one of many ways I can make sure that happens. Separately, I have also worked with homeowners that need help “colorizing” part or all of their home. This service is a $100 minimum (good for up to 1 hour). Call for more specifics on your project!

Interior Design:

Each project is so different and so personal. As a result, it’s best to talk through the details and then we’ll figure out the scope of the project together.

Commerical:

Commercial clients continue to become a bigger portion of DDN’s annual revenue.   This business has included draperies and bedding for the hotel industry, full service decorating of beautiful model homes, local restaurants, gated community clubhouse blinds and window treatments, and blinds, artwork & color paletting of corporate offices.  Whatever the challenge, we’re up for it and we make sure all N.F.P.A. codes are met.

Reupholstery:

Reupholstery
We transformed this settee from it’s original traditional cream damask with dark wood legs to ‘popping’ with this fun fabric.

Is it just as expensive to reupholster as it is to buy new?
Answer:

It depends! My prices for reupholstery are reasonable; however, redoing any piece of furniture should be considered an investment. Prices vary and are dependent on the cost of fabric selected, as well as the style of the piece being worked on. Generally the cost to recreate a good quality piece of furniture will total 60-85% of the cost to buy the same piece new. The key advantages: you get to pick exactly the right fabric to recover it in from an unlimited selection of fabrics, pick up and delivery is included for clients local to Central Jersey, AND you likely will have your newly decorated furniture within 3-4 weeks!
